Wand Barcode Readers
Wand barcode readers are typically keyboard wedge devices.
Keyboard wedge scanners connect in between your keyboard and your
computer. No software installation is required.
Most wedge scanners are for IBM PCs only
but there are some Mac keyboard wedge scanners available.
As keyboard wedge scanners plug into the
keyboard port of your computer, they may not work with some laptops.
Wand readers are low cost and work well, but
for ease of use nothing beats the CCD reader, costs a little
more but well worth it if you plan on a lot of scanning. Wand
bar code readers can take a little bit of getting used to. You
may have to practice to find the right angle to hold the wand at
and the speed to drag it across the bar code.
